Carolines monthly garden tips

NOVEMBER & DECEMBER

And the mild weather continues – remember last year when it was snowing in November, it makes me shiver to think about it! Whilst it has been unseasonally warm and dry – with a drought in some places – it has been good gardening weather.

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER Checklist

• Rake leaves off the lawn regularly and put in your leaf bin for next year’s mulch

• Plant bare root fruit bushes

• Plant bare root native hedging

• Fork over soil in borders, adding compost to improve structure

• Mulch borders

• Fix and stain fences, while plants are dormant

• Tidy up pots with winter pansies, primroses and spring bulbs

• Put a net over your pond to stop leaves from falling in
